FAQs for your therapeutic massage therapist

Ahead of your first appointment I'll need you to fill out some new client paperwork. You can fill this out by clicking here. This gives me a brief history of your medical, daily habits, and ways to contact you. With this information we will have a discussion about your expectations for therapeutic massage and build a plan based on that. I'll direct you on massage protocol and answer any questions you have. After your session I will recommend any after care or further work you may need.

 There are many health concerns, previous injuries, medications, and safety precautions that can be improved or made worse by massage. Any massage therapist needs to have this information before your session. Unwillingness to provide basic background information may result in termination of the appointment. Thank you for understanding.   

 As a massage therapist with personal client information I must follow the rules of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 is United States legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information.) Your information is safe and inaccessible to anyone but myself and you. 

Preparing for your massage is simple. Come wearing comfortable clothing and minimal jewelery and/or makeup. You'll want the transition out of your appointment to be easy and smooth. Please try to avoid strong perfume or cologne as other clients may be sensitive. Ask all the questions you need to feel comfortable. And finally, enjoy your massage!

Of course. What you do or don't wear is completely up to your level of comfort. All breast tissue, genitalia, and the gluteal cleft will be covered with massage linens at all times. With deep tissue massage thick clothing or denim may limit the techniques we can utilize. This is for your modesty and in compliance with Oregon state law. 

 I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. This may include an HSA, Care Credit, or any other debit/credit card as long as there is a credit card logo on it. I recommend verifying with your HSA provider that massage is a covered service.

Unfortunately, I do not directly bill insurance.  

NO! If you are ill please do not come in. I would rather have you cancel than get myself, my family, and all my other clients sick. Massage while you are sick will not make you well any faster and may actually make you feel worse. If you come in sick I have the right to refuse service.

  In most cases, yes. My training allows me to determine which techniques are safe and what should be avoided. If you are experiencing a high risk pregnancy please check with your doctor to see if they have any concerns regarding you receiving massage.   

 Massage can help with the side effects of illness and the treatment for a condition diagnosed by your doctor. My massage does not treat or cure any illness or disease. Ask your doctor before receiving a massage if you have a chronic illness or condition that may be affected by bodywork.   

 Yes. Minors are placed under so much pressure between sports, school, and social activities. While I'm happy to work on a wide array of clients regardless of age, I specialize in ages 16 years old and beyond. Exceptions may be made or I am happy to give you recommendations if I am unable to provide bodywork to the minor.
